Patricia Brown‐Dixon was named Regional Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Region VII Office by SBA Administrator Karen Mills in January of 2011 as a Schedule C appointee of President Barack Obama.

Previously Ms. Brown‐Dixon served in the federal government by helping small business owners as the Director of the Office of Business and Support Services at the General Services Administration, overseeing the GSA Heartland Region's Office of Small Business Utilization.

Ms. Brown‐Dixon began her career as an inventory management trainee in the Federal Supply Service. After being chosen to participate in the management intern program, she developed and presented a supervisory training package for first‐line supervisors. At the end of the training program, Brown‐Dixon was assigned to the Public Buildings Service planning staff to work with prospectuses and environmental impact statements for new federal construction projects.

Ms. Brown‐Dixon then moved to the GSA Administrative Services Division, where she managed the Regional Directives and Forms program, and oversaw maintenance of GSA's emergency relocation site. During this time, she was one of five regional employees nationwide chosen for a three‐month detail in the GSA administrator's office in Washington, DC., tasked with developing performance indicators for GSA's national management information system.  She also prepared testimony for congressional hearings and worked with a task force to organize a new GSA regional office in Philadelphia. After returning to Kansas City, Brown‐Dixon was chosen as the Executive Assistant to the Regional Administrator, coordinating activities identified as high priority between the Regional Administrator and his management staff.

Brown‐Dixon has spent her career working alongside the small businesses in the four‐state region, as well as across the country. She serves as the Chairperson of the Small Business Committee of the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board.  She has won numerous awards for small business advocacy, including the SBA Kansas City District Office’s 1995 Minority Business Advocate of the Year award. In 1997, Mrs. Brown‐Dixon was named as one of the 100 Most Influential African Americans in Kansas City. In 2007, she received the Excellence in Partnership Award from the Coalition of Government Procurement, and in 2009, was named Advocate of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Minority Enterprise Development Week Committee. She was selected as a 2011 Woman of Influence by the Kansas City Business Magazine and has served on numerous civic committees.

Widely known in the Kansas City small business arena as the host of the monthly GSA Networking Breakfasts, which help small business owners become acquainted with federal, state and local contract administrators and provides a forum for them to “pitch” their capabilities, Ms. Brown‐Dixon has helped countless small businesses become contractors and sub‐contractors for government projects.

Brown‐Dixon has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Education from Philander Smith College, in Little Rock, Ark., and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. She has one son.

As Region VII SBA Administrator, Brown‐Dixon oversees SBA operations throughout its district offices in Des Moines, St. Louis, Kansas City, Omaha and Wichita.
