DETROIT –   SBA District Director Gerald L. Moore will be honored as one of Michigan Chronicle’s “Men of Excellence” at the Induction Ceremony on June 7, 2013 at the Westin Book Cadillac, 1114 Washington Boulevard, Detroit, 48226.  The Michigan Chronicle “Men of Excellence” awards celebrate local African-American men who motivate and inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service. The honorees chosen represent a diverse group of men who have demonstrated success within their profession and industry, and are positive role models whose contributions encourage others.

“We are thrilled that Gerald has been selected by the local community to receive such a prestigious award,” said Constance Logan, SBA Deputy District Director.  Since his appointment in April, 2011, Moore has implemented significant outreach projects such as the Great Lakes Lenders Conference, the Doing Business With series, and the Countdown to 83! Helping Small Business Succeed…One County at a Time campaign.  Moore pledged to visit every county in the state within three years and the Countdown to 83! Campaign includes the final ten counties.

The Honorable Kasim Reed, Mayor of Atlanta, Georgia is scheduled to attend, as well as many notable civic and business leaders in Southeast Michigan.  Tickets are $65 each or $700 for sponsored table of ten.  For more information please call (313) 963-5522.
