DETROIT – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Michigan District Office presented its fiscal 2012 lender awards at the Great Lakes Lenders Conference on August 1st in Detroit. Hantz Bank was named SBA Business Development Lender of the Year, SBA’s award the Michigan-based lender that had the best improvement in loan activity, based on loan volume and percentages. Hantz Bank approved 27 SBA loans worth more than $15 million in fiscal 2012, an increase from 2011 of 286% in the number of loans and 670% in the total dollars approved.
The finalists for this award included Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, Hantz Bank, and Level One Bank. “Although it was difficult to select only one lender from this year’s group, Hantz Bank turned in a strong performance,” said Gerald Moore, SBA Michigan District Director.”
Through August 31st, 2013, the Michigan District Office guaranteed 1,880 loans worth more than $631 million. Over the past five years SBA has provided guaranties on 14,381 loans worth almost $2.5 billion to small businesses in Michigan.
