About Washington DC Office

The Washington Metropolitan Area District Office is responsible for the delivery of SBA's many programs and services to the District of Columbia; Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland; the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church; Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties in Virginia.

Services Available

• Free counseling, advice and information on starting a business through the SCORE: Counselors to America's Small Business.

• Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. The Washington Metropolitan Area District Office assisted 459 businesses in obtaining $132.5 million in loans in the fiscal year that ended September 30, 2009.

• Free consulting services through the network of Small Business Development Centers. SBDCs also conduct training events throughout the district - some require a nominal registration fee.

• Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals through the Minority Enterprise Development Program.

• Women's Business Ownership Representatives are available to advise women business owners. 

• Special loan programs are available for businesses involved in international trade.

• If you're a credit-worthy veteran, you can get a guaranteed loan. Our Veterans Affairs Officer is available to assist you.
