DETROIT - SBA’s Michigan District Office has extended the deadline for nominations for its 2013 Small Business Awards to November 30, 2012. The Michigan Small Business Person of the Year will be in contention for the National Small Business Person of the Year award selected at the Small Business Week event in Washington, D.C.
You may submit a preliminary nomination letter to the Michigan District Office via email. Your letter should include the company’s number of employees, annual sales in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and the North American Industrial Classification code. Please address some of the evaluation criteria for the award category, which includes the Small Business Person of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Family Owned Small Business of the Year, and Veteran Small Business of the Year. Criteria can be found at www.sba.gov/mi.
Please email your nomination letter to michigan@sba.gov by November 30, 2012. If you have questions, please contact June at 313.226.6075 ext. 274. Those who advance to the final selection stage will be asked for a complete nomination packet and given information on how to apply online or via email.
“These awards showcase Michigan’s small businesses and the people that support them,” said Gerald Moore, Michigan District Director. “There are so many success stories in the small business community and we want to highlight them during our Small Business Week celebration.”
The award winners will be honored at the 9th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards event to be held on May 2, 2013 in Lansing. Last year over 1,000 attended the awards celebration.
