DETROIT - SBA’s Michigan District Office is now accepting nominations for its 2014 Small Business Awards.   Beginning now, you may submit a preliminary nomination letter to the Michigan District Office via email.  Please address some of the evaluation criteria for the award category, which includes the Small Business Person of the Year, Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Family Owned Small Business of the Year.   Criteria can be found at [2]www.sba.gov/mi.

The award winners will be honored at the 10th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards event to be held on May 6, 2013 in East Lansing. The Michigan Small Business Person of the Year will be in contention for the National Small Business Person of the Year award selected at the Small Business Week event in Washington, D.C.

“It is more important than ever to recognize the successful small businesses that are responsible for contributing to a vibrant economy in Michigan,” said Gerald Moore, Michigan District Director.

Your letter should include the company’s number of employees, annual sales in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and the North American Industrial Classification code.  Please email your nomination letter to michigan@sba.gov by December 16, 2013.  If you have questions, please contact June Foyt at 313.226.6075 ext. 274 or email her at june.foyt@sba.gov. Those who advance to the final selection stage will be asked for a complete nomination packet and given information on how to apply.
