SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The U.S. Small Business Administration honored the 17 participating companies in its Emerging 200 Initiative (e200) at a graduation ceremony in Syracuse on November 7th. The intense program, providing more than 40 hours of advanced management training, has been a collaboration of the SBA Syracuse District Office with CenterState CEO, CNY TDO, City of Syracuse Office of Neighborhood and Business Development, Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc., MACNY, Onondaga SBDC, SUNY ESF, Syracuse SCORE, Syracuse University, The Falcone Center, The Tech Garden and the WISE Women’s Business Center.
“With tailored curriculum, limited class size and small mentoring groups, e200 creates an environment for the entrepreneur to take a critical assessment of their business in today’s economy and begin working on the business, not in the business,” said SBA Syracuse District Director Bernard J. Paprocki. “By strengthening these small businesses, e200 will affect more than our 17 graduates. The e200 experience will continue to impact their companies, employees, customers and communities for months and years from now.”
SBA announced at the graduation ceremony that Syracuse will host its third class of e200 in 2013. The e200 initiative focuses on small companies in the Syracuse area that have the potential for rapid expansion and job creation. Firms must have an operational track record of three years or more. Syracuse is one of 17 e200 participating cities. Others included Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Des Moines, Detroit, Fresno, Jacksonville, Memphis, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Youngstown, OH.
