The U.S. Small Business Administration helped celebrate the WISE Women’s Business Center’s new, larger location at The Tech Garden in downtown Syracuse on November 8th. The ribbon cutting ceremony unveiled the 1,000-square-foot space for the WISE Women’s Business Center, including office, conference, and training rooms.

As one of 100 Women’s Business Centers funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration across the nation, the WISE Women’s Business Center leverages Syracuse University’s outreach and training resources into invaluable entrepreneurial opportunities for clients.

“Our congratulations to center director Joanne Lenweaver for her vision and courage to take the WISE Women’s Business Center to the next level. SBA also thanks the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University for their unwavering support. The Tech Garden has become a hub of entrepreneurship in downtown Syracuse and the WISE Women’s Business Center is a natural fit,” praised SBA Syracuse District Director Bernard J. Paprocki.

“Almost three years ago, my business partner Dr. Cadmona Hall and I launched Hall & Hay Consulting Associates. We never envisioned the possibility of creating our own business. The WISE Center helped us see entrepreneurship as a possibility for us. The WISE Center not only offered us the possibility, but walked with us each step of the way and made the possibility a reality,” said Dr. Heather Hay, co-founder of Hall & Hay Consulting Associates, LLP, at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“This beautiful new center is a dream come true for our entire WISE team. For six years, we have helped women start and grow business differently. This unique and separate space will allow us to reach more women entrepreneurs who are changing the world, one venture at a time,” said WISE Women’s Business Center Director Joanne Lenweaver.

The WISE Women’s Business Center organizes a variety of networking events, from the WISE Symposium with high-profile speakers and 1,000 attendees to more intimate weekly Roundtable Discussions where women business owners share advice and support. In just six years, the WISE Women’s Business Center has directly assisted hundreds of existing businesses and provided thousands of hours of training. The WISE method for building a successful business incorporates a multi-level approach that works---over 100 new businesses have been launched by clients in the past three years.
