Richmond organizations rallying for Small Business Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. – U.S. Small Business Administration Richmond District Office, the Center for Women’s Enterprise, the City of Richmond and various other economic partners will be at locations in Carytown, Hull Street in Richmond, Short Pump and Innsbrook for National Small Business Day November 03, 2013.

“The goal of this event is to raise awareness and to draw shoppers into local small businesses,” said SBA Richmond District Office Director Jayne Armstrong. “I want to encourage Richmond shoppers to buy goods locally which help businesses succeed, grow and create jobs.”

Organizations participating will be at various locations across the metro Richmond area including Carytown, Short Pump, Innsbrook and Hull Street in Richmond. Participants will hold signs supporting small businesses and encourage shoppers to spend locally.

Small Business Saturday is a day to support the local small businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small businesses have generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years and employ over half of all private sector employees.

Saturday, November 30, 2013 is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Please join the SBA and organizations across the Virginia in supporting your local small business by shopping at a small business.
