Opportunities for veteran-owned businesses to be shared
MILWAUKEE– SBA Regional Administrator Marianne Markowitz and Wisconsin District Director Eric Ness are the featured lunchtime speakers at a day-long conference, Doing Business with the Department of Veteran Affairs, taking place on Wednesday, November 14 in Milwaukee. Director Markowitz will address national and regional SBA support to veteran-owned businesses, while Ness will cover current and new opportunities for Wisconsin’s veterans.
The SBA is also a conference host, and representatives will be available to provide more information on key programs throughout the day. Co-hosts include the 128th Air Refueling Wing, the Wisconsin Procurement Institute, and the Northwest Michigan PTAC.
SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development (OVBD) provides comprehensive assistance, outreach and support to veterans. SBA has expanded its Veterans Business Outreach Centers and has launched programs such as Patriot Express—a streamlined loan product with an enhanced guaranty and interest rate. Each year SBA helps more than 200,000 veterans, service-disabled veterans and reservists.
In fiscal year 2012, SBA Wisconsin supported nearly 100 veteran-owned businesses in obtaining more than $36 million dollars in loans, including $2.8 million through the Patriot Express program.
