After more than eleven years of service to the small business community as a SCORE volunteer in Wyoming, David Sneed has announced that he is retiring to pursue other passions.

SCORE is one of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s important resource partners in its efforts to assist small businesses with starting, expanding, and creating jobs.  SCORE is a national nonprofit association with more than 13,000 diverse volunteers around the country who are dedicated to mentoring and educating small businesses.  These volunteers work one-on-one with small businesses owners in person and online, and many of them also lead free or low-cost seminars and workshops.

SCORE was truly family affair with the Sneeds. David believed in the program so much that he also recruited his wife, Cheri and his daughter, Hannah to provide counseling to Wyoming entrepreneurs.  Together, they have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs across the state start small businesses and realize new levels of success in their existing businesses.

“David, Cheri and Hannah have done good work for the entrepreneurs in Wyoming and they will be hard to replace, said Steve Despain, District Director for the Wyoming office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. “We all appreciate David and his family and the efforts they’ve made on behalf of small businesses.”

Jane Boorman, Program Director, SCORE, U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, DC, also celebrated David’s accomplishments, saying, “Thank you for your good work David. Those who do not live in the wide-open spaces, cannot comprehend the challenge of doing SCORE’s work there. While challenging in many ways, it is a wonderful place to live and work.”

SCORE is currently looking for new mentors, across the country and right here in Wyoming.  Whether you have owned your own small business or worked for a Fortune 500 company, whether you are a college student or a retiree looking for an encore career, if you have a sincere commitment to helping small businesses, there is a place for you to share your talents within SCORE!  Log on to and become a SCORE volunteer today! If you have any questions, please contact Dave Rippe, SCORE Chapter Chair, Cheyenne, 307-634-7445 or Deb Farris, Economic Development Specialist, SBA 307-261-6510.
