About Augusta District Office

The Augusta District Office is responsible for the delivery of SBA's many programs and services to all 16 counties in the state of Maine.

Services Available  Maine District Office Staff Directory

Over the years, the SBA has developed many small business loan and assistance programs, special outreach efforts and initiatives to aid and inform small businesses. The following describes briefly all the services and information available through this office:

  • Free counseling, advice and information on starting a business through the SCORE.

  • Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders. For more information, call Diane Sturgeon, Lender Relations Specialist at (207) 622-8286.

  • Free consulting services through the network of the Maine Small Business Development Centers, sponsored by the SBA, University of Maine, and the State of Maine. SBDCs also conduct training events throughout the district - some require a nominal registration fee.

  • Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals through the Minority Enterprise Development Program.

  • A Women's Business Ownership Representative is available to advise women business owners. For any questions please contact SBA's Women's Representative, Marilyn Geroux at (207)622-8382.

  • Special loan programs are available for businesses involved in international trade. For any questions please contact SBA's IT Representative, Alden Turner at (207)592-5322.

  • A Veterans Affairs Officer is available to counsel veterans. For any questions please contact  SBA Veteran's Officer, William Card at (207) 622-8555.
