Agreement improves access to technological information, education and local resources needed by entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses

West Palm Beach, Fla. -- The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) South Florida district office signed a strategic alliance with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County on Tuesday, Feb. 15, forging a business relationship to improve small business through educational opportunities and SBA resources.

SBA South Florida District Director Francisco “Pancho” Marrero and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County CEO Andre Varona signed the document and shook hands in front of chamber members during a monthly chamber lunch and education program.

“I am extremely pleased SBA will partner with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, under the excellent leadership of Andre Varona,” said Marrero. “The chamber is growing and is gaining a reputation for assisting this community. I know that it will take advantage of our SBA programs to help potential entrepreneurs become business owners; fulfilling their dreams of small business ownership and taking their place in the business world.”

According to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for Palm Beach County website, the chamber strives to be a resource for information, advocacy, business and economic development, education and training and cost savings for all who seek opportunities in Palm Beach County.

“For two years in a row the U.S. Small Business Administration has helped to put more than $30 billion into the hands of small business owners across the country. During FY 2012, the SBA South Florida District approved more than 1630 loans for $783.5 million. In Palm Beach County alone, 168 loans were approved for $90.5 million,” said SBA South Florida District Director Francisco “Pancho” Marrero. “The small business economy improved in 2012 and based upon our first quarter FY13 SBA loan data, the recovery is continuing on the same track. So far in Palm Beach County, 40 loans have been approved for $23.7 million.”
