Wyoming - Baby boomers don’t follow the same working guidelines parents did 20 years ago. The Small Business Administration has a new website for 50+plus baby boomers, or those born between 1946 and 1964, who might want to start a new business. SBA is working hard to open opportunities through new technology tools and services. The new website,
50+ Entreprenuer, offers programs to help start, grow and succeed in a new business and to help you make the best choices for your future.
According to a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, 63% of non-retired adults in the US plan to work in retirement; two-thirds say enjoyment of work is the key reason. With plenty of years of experience, maturity and still lots of energy, why not go into business for yourself. You can find financial and personal fulfillment in being your own boss and owning a small business.
Sole proprietorships, home-based and online businesses are a good fit for older small business owners because they are less expensive to start and have greater flexibility. For example, buying and selling items through online auctions is a good business opportunity that hasn’t been available in past years.
Now is the time to start planning for your new business, rather it is a new startup, purchasing a business or buying a franchise. SBA is here to help you make the best choice for your particular situation. For more information contact SBA’s Sharon Nichols at 307 261-6508 or email sharon.nichols@sba.gov.
