SACRAMENTO – Michael W. Ricks, District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Louisiana District Office, announced today that SBA has approved over $150 million in federal disaster loans to Louisiana homeowners, renters and businesses who sustained damage from Hurricane Isaac.
According to Ricks, SBA has approved $132.4 million in loans to 4,386 residents and $17.9 million in loans to 437 businesses and private, nonprofit organizations impacted by the disaster.
“Even though the deadline to apply for property damage loans expired on November 29, SBA is still offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to small businesses and most private, nonprofit organizations of any size to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the business or nonprofit organization suffered any property damage. These EIDL loans have an interest rate of 4% for businesses and 3% for private, nonprofit organizations, a maximum term of 30 years, and are available to small businesses and most private, nonprofits without the financial ability to offset the adverse impact without hardship,” Ricks said. The deadline to apply for EIDLs is May 29, 2013.
“SBA continues to provide one-on-one disaster assistance to individuals and business owners at the LaPlace Disaster Loan Outreach Center. Due to the continuing large number of visitors to the LaPlace center, SBA will remain at this location until further notice to meet the continuing needs of the community. Until the center closes, SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available to meet with residents and business owners to help them apply for an EIDL business disaster loan, answer their questions and close their approved disaster loans,” said Ricks. “To date, more than 31,100 visitors have received personal service from SBA at 40 Disaster Recovery Centers, 11 SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers and 10 SBA Business Recovery Centers,” he continued. Residents and business owners can meet with SBA representatives on the days and times indicated below. No appointment is necessary.
