SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Michael Ricks, District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Louisiana District Office, announced today that the Disaster Recovery Centers in Lafitte and LaPlace will transition to SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers beginning Friday, November 30.

“The State, FEMA and SBA opened the Disaster Recovery Centers to provide one-stop, face-to-face assistance and disaster information to individuals and businesses who suffered damage a result of Hurricane Isaac.  At this stage of the recovery process, the emphasis for assistance is to meet the long-term needs of homeowners, renters and businesses impacted by Isaac,” said Ricks.  “We believe the transition of these Disaster Recovery Centers to SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers will continue to meet those needs,” he continued.

“SBA customer service representatives are also still available at four additional Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to issue loan applications, answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program, explain the application process, help individuals complete their application and close their approved loans,” Ricks added.  No appointment is necessary.  Those centers are located at:

“As of today, SBA has approved nearly $139.3 million in federal disaster loans to help Louisiana residents and business owners recover from Hurricane Isaac.  SBA has approved 4,063 loans to Louisiana homeowners and renters for $123.7 million, and 375 loans to businesses for $15.6 million,” Ricks said.

“Don’t miss out on assistance you may be entitled to by not registering and applying for help.  Individuals and business owners who sustained property damage are encouraged to first register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) prior to the November 29, 2012 deadline by calling the tele-registration number at (800) 621 3362.  Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may call TTY (800) 462-7585. 

Applicants may apply for an SBA disaster loan online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela

Residents and business owners may obtain information on SBA disaster loans and SBA locations in Louisiana by calling SBA at (800) 659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov or visiting SBA’s Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.  Individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may call (800) 877-8339.
