On Thursday May 5, 2011 the annual SBA Awards Luncheon will be held at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm.  The luncheon is being hosted by the Maine SBDC. 
 

This years Small Business Persons of the Year are James McCurdy and James Lynch, owners of Maine Tire Company, Inc. in Hermon. 

Small Business Champion Winners are:
 

Erica Quin-Easter, Microenterprise Coordinator for Maine Centers for Women, Work & Community is our Women in Business Champion,

     and

Kriistine Schuman, Manager of the Base Realignment and Closure Transition Center at the Bruswick Naval Station (BNAS) is our Veteran Small Business Champion.

The SBA Lender Toolkit provides you easy access to the information you need.  It can be easily accessed from our website.  The previous version of our "banking" website will only be available until May 1, 2011.  We believe you will find this new website user friendly and much easier to navigate. 

 The online Lender Toolkit features:

• Find a Loan Package, which allows users to select a loan type and download all the associated forms. Instruction on how to complete the loan package and standard boilerplates will help lenders prepare more accurate loan applications, increasing the probability of guarantees to worthy small businesses.
• Find a Service Center enables the lender to search for servicing center contact information based on the loan processing parameters of loan type and stage. Lenders can also Find a Lender Relationship Specialist by selecting a local district office from a pull-down list.
• Lender FAQs provide answers to questions about the SBA’s approach on the financing and underwriting of loans to small business owners.
• Recent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) notices, which display current versions of loan processing, servicing and liquidation documents along with a copy highlighting any updates.
• Weekly Lending Report, which provides details on lending activity for SBA loan programs, along with comparisons for FY 2009, 2010 and 2011 for the period ending that week

Oxford Hill Score receives
Maine District Chapter of the Year Award
 

Oxford Hills Score Chapter #0479 received the 2010 Award as Maine District Chapter of the Year.  The chapter exceeded all goals for client services with the  exception of online services.  Face to face services were at 139% of goal, workshops at 167% of goal; and workshop attendees at 128% of goal.  Oxford Hills was one of four chapters in the district to particpate in the accelerator grant program and was the first chapter in the district to successfully launch Roundtable Workshops in cooperation with a local Chamber of Commerce and SBDC as partners.  Congratulations!
