National Toxicology Program to review and approve new draft approach to assessment of chemicals at its Board of Scientific Counselors meeting on December 11, 2012. Deadline to register to speak at the meeting and to submit comments is Thursday, December 6th, 2012.
The Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) National Toxicology Program’s (NTP) Board of Scientific Counselors meeting will take place on December 11, 2012 from 8:30 AM until 4 PM. The BSC is the technical advisory body comprised of scientists from the public and private sectors. The body provides primary scientific oversight to the NTP. NTP’s Report on Carcinogens has been criticized for its lack of transparency and inappropriate procedures and scientific processes. At the December 11th meeting, NTP hopes to adopt a systematic review procedure for the literature-based evaluation it conducts to assess the evidence that substances cause adverse health effects and to examine the state of the science.
