Free Forums at National Small Business Week

By Karen Mills, Former SBA Administrator
Published: April 29, 2011 Updated: May 16, 2011

We’re gearing up for National Small Business Week, which is May 18 through 20. This year’s theme is “Empowering Entrepreneurs.” That’s exactly what we want to do by offering four free educational forums for small business owners:

  • Growing Your Business While on the Go will feature a presentation by entrepreneur Bill Rancic (the first-year winner of “The Apprentice”) on how a busy entrepreneur can keep their business going and growing. This will be followed by a panel discussion with executives from AT&T and SCORE.

  • Social Media: Get your Business Connected will feature experts from GrowBiz Media, Intuit, Yelp, and Youtube, talking about how small businesses can grow, network, and find more customers through social media.

  • High Growth, High Impact Strategies will talk about how small firms with big potential can scale up and create jobs, featuring executives from CareerBuilder, Honest Tea, and Google Apps.

  • Exporting Tools for Success will feature several public and private sector leaders talking about how small businesses can successfully break into new international markets, a priority of the President’s National Export Initiative.

We look forward to your participation in National Small Business Week! Registration for the forums is quick and easy, but space is limited. You can register here. If you’re too far away from Washington, D.C., go here for a live webstream. Questions during the forums can be submitted via our Twitter handle @SBAgov.

yes if you have some guided videos so we could learn from it..
Is there any date for a 2012 social media event?
I do have to say I just came across this blog and loved it. Staying motivated with my education has always been difficult. Thank You for the post. http://www.holidaytripsinindia.com/kerala-backwater-packages.asp
Do you have any of the presentations recorded on Youtube? I think I can learn a lot from it.
Karen, is there any chance that the social media forum will be held again this year ?
A good range of topics seemed to be discussed here. It's great to see small businesses having access to such influencial speakers.
Free forums are not so sure, I think the paid trusted. But if major sites like sba.gov so to create free forums, believe very much in their seriousness.
I like the sound of growing your business on the go. This is a good topic. Do you have any results from the forums?
Will we have such forums this year? I would love to take part in such events.
Thanks for bringing this back onto the business agenda, which is particularly important for ecological companies.
