For small businesses, exporting can pave a path of expansion and growth. Starting up may seem daunting, but with the rise of the Internet and enhanced trade rules it is now easier than ever to become a successful seller abroad. A new Export Program Guide offers support and assistance for new exporters, or those thinking of their overseas operations.
The 2009 edition of the Export Programs Guide features over 100 federal programs that offer counseling and assistance to current exporters and businesses looking to develop internationally.
The Guide begins with general export counseling and drills down to industry- and country-specific assistance. The Guide also provides detailed information on market research programs, export finance, insurance, performance quality including health and safety certifications, licensing, and trade promotion events. Among the more valuable information are listings of regionally-focused programs, such as the China Business Information Center, the Middle East and North Africa Business Information Center, and the India Business Center.
The 2009 Export Program Guide is available for free online as a PDF. You can also order a printed copy from the U.S. government bookstore at 1-866-512-1800; http://bookstore.gpo.gov under stock number 003-009-00737-2 for $10.50 per hard copy.
