Entrepreneurs over the age of 50 are one of the fastest growing groups of new business owners. For age 50+ individuals, also known as encore entrepreneurs, starting a small business offers an opportunity to use your knowledge and experience gained during your career toward creating a new business that can be rewarding in many ways.
If you’re ready to embark on your journey to become an entrepreneur or want to learn how you can grow your existing business, now is a great time to explore your options and SBA is here to help. This April SBA and AARP are hosting National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Month. To find local events taking place near you, visit www.sba.gov/mentormonth for details.
Our goal is to connect 100,000 encore entrepreneurs with small business assistance including speed mentoring, workshops and other programs to help encore entrepreneurs to start or grow small businesses. SBA’s District Offices, state AARP Offices and SBA’s network of SCORE, Small Business Development Centers and Women’s Business Centers are offering more than 100 events around the country.
SBA and AARP also hosted free webinars and you may easily access the topics for download,
You’ll also find a number of tools right here on our website to help you, including SBA’s online small business learning center that offers free courses on how to start your own business and a course designed for women entrepreneurs over the age of 50.
We look forward to seeing you at Mentor Month events and encourage you to visit with our mentors and counselors, as well as explore SBA’s online tools to help you to build your own small business.
