How the American Jobs Act will Help Small Manufacturers

This week I had the pleasure of visiting Circle City Rebar in my hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Their story will be familiar to small business owners across the country.  Owner Frank Davis started the business after being laid off from the large corporation he worked at for years.  He used an SBA loan in 2005 to start the business.  Then he used another SBA loan to move Circle City Rebar to a bigger facility across town.  Now Frank is looking at a 3rd loan to purchase some new equipment and hire two more workers.

I talked with Frank about how the American Jobs Act would help him and other Indiana small businesses.  The American Jobs Act contains payroll taxes which will help Frank hire those two new workers.  Meanwhile, the infrastructure investments in the American Jobs Act will mean more contracts for manufacturers like Circle City Rebar.  These are tools that will help more small businesses grow and create jobs.  That’s why the President has called on Congress to pass the American Jobs Act immediately.  This plan to put Americans back to work makes sense, it's bipartisan and it’s fully paid for.  America’s small businesses need the investments, resources and tax breaks contained in the bill, and they need them now.

We need to do whatever we can to help American manufacturing. Previous tax policies did just the reverse, which was a very bad idea.
