In the United States:Roughly 66% of 2010 college graduates have student loans, averaging $24,000 each.Only 60% of students who enter 4-year public universities graduate within 6 years of matriculation.9.7% of young college graduates are unemployed (far worse for historically disadvantaged populations)Massive increases in tuition and fees due to declining state support. Our method of financing higher education is broken. Our education, government and business sectors are disconnected. And the United States is at risk of defaulting on its ability to compete in the global economy. I intend to do something about this because I refuse to be the first generation in the history of the United States that doesn't improve upon our given circumstances. Speaking as the grandson of the Greatest Generation, we have got to do better.I am in the planning stages of an innovative solution that solves the student debt crisis and re-tools the American workforce to drive innovation and spur job creation.About me: As a 2008 graduate from a top-ten public university, I founded an award-winning alumni relationship management program that employed 30 part-time students and achieved 60% alumni participation rate. I'm currently employed as a Policy Advisor to a local elected representative, focusing on issues affecting low-income populations, the environment, and government finance. I've traveled and/or volunteered throughout Latin America, Central America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.I am interested in learning more about corporate governance and finance. Thank you for your comments.
