We are looking for research and development grants for creating a new style rehabilitation & reintegration program, fitted for individuals suffering from various maladaptive behaviors. We would be attempting to utilize existing and evolving advanced mind technologies, coupled with older refined methodologies, purged from modalities that have currently been proven more effective. We are currently in the process of creating a detailed outline for this idea that will encompass multiple tiers of evolving research and development practices.

Being a non-profit does make a difference. The majority of grants available are for non-profits rather than for-profit businesses.
As previously stated, grants.gov is a great resource and its database can be efficiently searched to find non-profit funding opportunities from the federal government.
Check out business.gov's Loans and Grants Search Engine to find federal and state funding opportunities that you may be eligible for.

I am in the process of reconstructing our business plan and signing on to grants.gov, in search of anything that will aid in meeting our goals. This process will take a while. If you happen to run across anything during your daily journeys that may help us in meeting our objectives, please let me know.

You can also search for private foundations that do the same thing or similar to what you want to do. Most private foundations have grants for companies that help them meet their mission. Find their grant section and see the requirements for a letter of interest.

Thank- You for the advise. We are going non profit structure, will that make a difference in finding grant money from either federal, state or both?
In addition to grants that are posted, look to large corporations that have a business reason to be interested in what you do. Many large corporations have grant divisions/resources that they just don't publicize. Since you are a non-profit, you would likely be a viable candidate for that type of funding. Perhaps there is some symbiosis with pharmaceutical companies, or home health care companies, or other medical related companies. Go directly to their Advertising Department or their Foundation.
