Adding a "division" to my LLC

I have an LLC for my business. Once a year I planning on holding an event for 250 people, and I want to open a separate bank account, have the sponsors write checks to the event (not my llc), and also protect my LLC and me from any liability.
How should this be done without setting up another full LLC?
