I think Google is a good source but you need at least $300 to $500 a month as
your budget to see any results. I use free classifieds as well and I pay for
premium ads. Social media is a good avenue. Does anyone know of any other
avenues or a good SEO company that has a good rating with the BBB?

more. I mean thousands of dollars - if people tell you different, it might
work for a few months - but eventually you get penalized. In the search
engine arena you need to look at local directory solutions and adwords
express. A new type of marketing that is very affordable is Content
Discovery...with this, you can get your blog titles to be listed as content
on Major publishing sites like CNN, People, etc. People interested in your
titles will come to your site to read the articles, giving you the
opportunity to sell. Prices are as little a $0.07 a click.

You need to analyze your target and market. If your visitors mostly came from
search engine, then adwords and SEO is the best choice.
If your visitors came from social media, such as facebook or twitter, then
try to advertise with them, alternatively. IMO, advertise in facebook is
affordable, you can set the bids and budgets as needed.

positive ROI on PPC($3000+ per month), then it is good, as long as you not
losing your initial investment(it is not expense, it is investment) and can
be tax deductible(discuss with your CPA)..
Then Organic SEO, Google Local Listing Optimization can help alot when your
listing in Top 5 Organically and Local Place Listing ..
I working with Lawyers, their PPC is around $15-$20 per click, but Google
places and Organic SEO generate Free Leads and works really good with PPC
campaigns if you can handle extra customers(make sure you will not get bad
reviews - reputation management online can be very expensive and hurt your
business big time)

(keywords) you want to compete you will have to budget accordingly. However I
think even $300/month can be enough in most cases - if managed properly!
Another thing to take into account is that even if you set your budget at
$300/month, you still need to commit to try it for at least 3 months or so to
begin optimizing and to start seeing the results you want.
In general a good marketing plan that's comprehensive and that maps to your
reality and budget is a must to get consistent results.
