Advertising my domestic cleaning business

Hi All,

I've recently started my own business doing domestic house cleaning. I'm thinking of sending out fliers and putting up some notices in local shops. I've also registered with CleaningPlace.net, the domestic cleaning directory.

Any other cleaners with advice on how to get some intial business?

Whe first starting I had two very cheap but effective campaigns. Printed fliers advertising product, then paid school kids to put on car windscreens in large car parks, very cheap and it worked. Also had a sign made for the back window of my car, again cheap and also effective, could see in the rear mirror at traffic lights people in car behind poining and often writing down site address, again cheap, effective and long lasting. I also did Adword years ago when it was dirt cheap.

Hi Dale,   You should look into running a deal of the day like Groupon or Living Social. That can add a customer base quickly.

Registering with Google site map is best. Also, try to include as a facebook advertisement in your facebook profile.

I would definately get yourself a site and start a Google adwords campaign. I started my cleaning business using gumtree so you can try this too, good luck..

I think most people are right here. It is okay to have a website to refer people to for more about your business but as far as actually getting business you are going to need to rank in the top ten Google search for your local area for people to actually find it or use PPC advertising. Go to local apartment complexes and local condominium developments. Most of these entities have small monthy newsletters that they give to all residents. Put a small ad in those newsletters. Developing a bunch of business in one area will be far easier for you than developing business that is scattered all over. I would wait with the web site. Invest in flyers to distribute to apartment buildings and condos. Also try community centers in your area. In this business word of mouth is the best advertisement. Also order business cards and advertise 'first cleaning for free'. Concentrate in one area.

I think you would do well if you started a Google Adwords campaign and targeted keyword with the city name tagged on them.   Such as 'home cleaning service chicago' that is of course if you live in Chicago, so you just put your home city on a variation of keywords, such as:   home cleaning cheap home cleaner house cleaning contractor   etc...   You will of course need a website to send people to from the ad, but that is not too hard to do, you can just use templates from Wordpress whuch are free.   Honestly handing out flyers may work, but most people use the internet for everything these days, and targeting words like that will be cheap.   All the best
