Yes, it was a non-taxable rebate. As a previous poster mentioned, the reason a tax payer needed to list the amount received on their tax return (there was a special place to enter the information and a question about the amount received) was to determine whether the person received the maximum amount due to them. For instance, if the tax payer received $400 and the max was $600, then they would receive an additional $200 refund when they filed their taxes.
The stimulus check is taxable! Now that is ridiculous, what a shame.
The Stimulus check is NOT taxable. It is a rebate check that the Treasury sent out and the only reason you need to this amount is to determine if you would get any additional breaks this year if you did not get the full amount last year.
go to the www.irs.gov and type in the search box How much was my 2008 Stimulus payment, client that follow the instruction and it will provide you with how much you received .

Don't you mean your 2008 stimulus check?
The IRS has this neat tool called How Much Was My Stimulus Payment? -- you just enter in your social security number, filing status, number of exemptions claimed on your 2007 return, and you'll get the amount of your check.
Also, I recommend visiting the Economic Stimulus Payment Center to find out more about the recovery rebate tax credit for 2008.
was i supposed to claim this check on my income taxes for 2008? i don't think i claimed it because i knew it wasn't taxable. Was that amount supposed to go in the taxes refunded box on my tax form?
