I am constantly monitoring my website via Google analytics and I know such things as hits, average time spent on the site and bounce rate, but can't find any statistics to measure these numbers to. Can anyone find or does any know the statistics of the following (can't find them for the life of me):
1. The average time somebody spends on a website?
2. The average bounce rate of a website visitor?
D: Bounce Rate - the number of times someone goes to a website and clicks right back, displayed in a percentage format.
3. The average number of pages somebody who visits a website looks at?
If anyone can find these or knows the answers to these questions, kindly tell me as it would be much appreciated.
There really are no specific statistics or industry metrics if that is what you are after. The key to using analytics is how you interpret the data - your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
For example...
Conversion rate = total site visitors to leads converted.
Cost-per-lead = ratio of marketing costs to actual leads generated
Depth of traffic = how far people go into your site (determines effectiveness of your landing pages)
concentration = amount of visitors to a given page (determines where visitor interest is strongest)

To using these statistics effectively is to measure them over time. Create an excel spreadsheet and start tracking your numbers, then test ways to improve your KPIs

I would also recommend statcounter.com. I have it on two websites, and find that it gives more complete information than Google Analytics. It is very easy to use and set up.

I'm playing around more with G Analytics as I just used it for the basics prior. The more in-depth features of the system are beginning to answer some of the more basic questions I had. However, after doing some research, I think the exact statistics I was after are not able to be found.

Everything you are asking for is in fact in google analytics, I think it is best that you read the help file or find a tutorial of google analytics.
Its a wonderful tool that will tell you a lot of whats going on in your website.
I dont think you would need anything else, unless you want to check your backlinks.

Google analytics has bounce rate as one of their main categories once you login, so that one should be easy.
Another tip, Hubspot has a free trial for a program which allows you to basically take a video of what people do on your site. You see their mouse moving etc. It's a nice way to see what is catching their eye.

Analytics is a great tool but takes some getting used to.
Another one that I use and find to be a lot simpler is statcounter.com
Its free, you just have to set up tracking on your site
