Hi everybody, I am thinking of starting a small, home-based company to act as a personal shopper to clients overseas. I have a million questions about registration, guidelines, steps etc and wanted to ask if there is anybody that I can talk to - like a mentor with SBA. Thank you,CG

Same advice as earlier post. The best place to start before looking for a mentor is the SBA site. It has tons of guides and self evaluation tests to determine if the business you're thinking of is viable. Frankly there's so much info on the site that you'll have a pretty good idea on what direction you'll want to go after examining just a few of the basic topics. Start with "Starting a Business" the reading helps you understand more of what's required and prepares you to undertake the task of learning and sticking with it.

Personally, I'd think that spending some time on your own before hand would make your time with a mentour much more valuable. It's likely they would only have an hour or two for you, so benig able to ask the most difficult questions in that time is your best bet.
Licenses are going to vary based on products more than anything else.
You can buy clothes without a license, but there is a 6+ month process to buy alchol on a corporate level (as an example).
With some more information, people will help more I'm sure.
