If you have an Australian business (sole trader) and wish to buy goods from wholesalers in the US and sell to people in the US and Internationally, what tax or other requirements apply?

If you are going to import goods into the US, you will need to be aware of custom and tariff laws.

One thing to consider is that many importers choose to utilize a customs broker to helpfacilitate the laws and regulations that apply to your business, includinglicenses, taxes, duty fees, etc. A customs broker prepares all the documentationneeded for importing goods,just as a freight forwarder does for exporters. What happens though if I was to buy the goods in the US and dropship them to a customer in the US (Never leaving the US). What are the requirements for a sole trader Australian business to do this? Do I need to file for a business license in the US? Do I fill in an american tax return?
