Forget about grants - they just don't work that way. You might be able to get some tax assistance from your local community development based on your anticipated job creation. Other options - after purchase - are to factor - either factor your accounts receivables, purchase orders or credit card receipts for daily working capital. To purchase the business (if an existing business) - either look to friends and family for loans and investment or look to your community for investors or utilize personal assets for the funding. Or, ask the current owner to carry the note.

Grants are not available to for-proft businesses unless you have created a new, cutting edge product that is in the national interest. You might look into tax credits for job creation. Your state department of commerce or your state tax or revenue department should have information. Credits are available for hiring hard to place workers, those who have been unemployed for over a year, for starting a business in certain economically depressed areas, and for meeting other criteria.
