Banks in the US are no harder than any other banks in the world. Know that lending standards have not tightened, they are just back where they should be. Banks or any lender look for two thing: 1) Your willingness to repay (showed by strong credit history) and 2) Your ability to repay - meaning strong cash flow (either from your business or any other source). Banks and other lenders just want to get repaid - make sure you demonstrate a reasonable ability and willingness to repay your loan and you should have no problem. There are many sources of capital - not just banks - but, they depend on how much you are seeking and what those funds will be used for. The less you seek or the more specific reason you have for obtaining capital, the better your chances.

rocky, I think the US banks are a little tight as well since they are will recovering. I this is shows the importance as a future small business owner to really do your research and make sure you are going to get a return and be able to repay your loan.
