I would suggest you look into Registered Agent services.  This kind of service is offered by most companies dealing with opening/registering a business.  Basically, for about $100-200/yr, they will become the registered agent for your business and more often than not, will give you an option of registering your business at their address.  This will be the official business address for things like government correspondence.  You can still have another address on your business cards and other day to day operations.   Good luck!

Also check your lease. Not all apartment complexes allow home based businesses, particularly if customers or delivery people will come and go. If yours doesn't, you might consider renting a mail box at a place like Parcel 'n Post, where you can mail and ship as well as have a mail box. Most such places allow you to use their street address and list your box number as 'Suite 100' or something similar.

Xile_F, You should get with your state and local government, since sometime it will depend on your state. You can use your home address, however some people has try to avoid that in case of other business issues, such as an upset customers, etc may be able to show up at your house. In regards to PO Boxes, again check with the state and local government, but many of them do require a physical location which doesn't include PO boxes. Does anyone else have some advice for Xile_F?
