Hi. I am a foreigner student in CA. I have F1 visa and also I am making my master on Green Business and it gives me a special working permission for 20 hours/week called Curricular Practical Trainin (CPT).
I am thinking to start my own business to import products from Europe. My question is, am I able to start a business with F1 visa, and am I able to work 20 hours per week in my own business? At least if you can tell me where can I go or call to take information would be perfect for me.
No, you cannot start your own business to import goods into the US under your F-1 visa that provides for CPT. If you do and Homeland Security finds out, you will loose your visa. The University of Pennsylvania has more information about the specifications of CPT http://www.upenn.edu/oip/iss/visa/f1/cpt.html.
