What type of school? If you are thinking about an after school program or some type of learning center - you might be able to partner with your city for grant funds or even with private foundations who's mission is education. You would have to run the school as a non-profit and provide a benefit that your city or a private foundation deems needed in your area. For loans - your best bet, if you can come up with say 10% equity down (all lenders will require you to put up some of your own money) are SBA loans - there are programs for businesses like yours as well as programs for veterans - you just have to call around to local banks in your area and see which are offering SBA programs. Get their packages - then get together with a local SCORE office or Small Business Development Center (both are free to use) and they can help you complete the package to include writing a business plan. You might even consider, if they are in your area, local community development organziations that provide low interest loans to community based businesses. Still looking for a loan?  It sounds like a SBA loan might be just right for you.  You'll need decent credit (600 min), some way to show you are financially involved (down payment), and collateral in the form of equity that is greater than the amount you want to borrow.  Also, normally if a business, you'll need to show some cash flow.  This shows you can pay the loan back.  My lenders usually can lend as low as $400K for SBA loans.  No up front fees.  Return to you Fund/No Funding results in about 3 days after submital of summary information.
