I have been attempting to dig up some information on this topic and I to no avail have I found anything worth putting into action. I need to transfer my father's business to myself, the DBA, and any related assets to myself. The company is an LLC and I am simply searching for the legal process to transfer said company to myself. Any thoughts or suggestions?
You should be able to find forms on your state or county web site that allow you to amend the LLC and DBA registrations. It is a simple process. You may need to talk with an accountant about transferring the assets of the LLC to yourself unless you intend to keep them in the business and transfer the business ownership to yourself. Even then, you will need a new Operating Agreement, which an attorney can prepare.

To change your EIN status from a Partnership to a Single Member LLC, you must write or FAX a letter to the IRS facility where you originally filed your EIN and include the following…
Legal name of the LLC.
Your position in the LLC.
Include the address of your LLC.
You’re Articles of Amendment with the change(s) to your LLC.
An explanation that you went from a multi-member LLC to a single member LLC and you are the only member in the LLC now.
And address the coversheet (FAX) and/or letter to “Attention: EIN Operation”
