Can I link a business/domain to an LLC?

Hi all,
We are in the initial stages of launching our business. We formed an LLC in
Indiana a few months ago. Since forming our LLC we decided to name our
business something else. We are in the process of securing our domain name
and web host. For example our LLC is called business x, llc and we are
launching business y.com. Can we conduct business under our original LLC or
do we need to file for another LLC? If we can conduct business under our
original LLC, any requirements we need to follow? Any advice is greatly
appreciated!
Thanks.

for you. In many states, an LLC can "own" another business. You would
register a DBA for the new business listing the LLC as the owner, not you
personally. If you plan to have only a website in the new name, that wouldn't
be a separate business entity. Your LLC can use any domain name you choose.
It doesn't have to be the LLCname.com.
Another option is to modify your LLC registration to change the business's
name. You should be able to find the form to do that on the website of the
agency with whom you registered the LLC. The process is usually quick and
easy, though there will be a cost involved.
