I am currently the owner of a corporation in Canada and a Canadian Citizen. I want to open up a new corporation in the USA. Researching location at present. I plan on setting up the corporation and then hiring local people to run the operation. I am not interested in drawing a salary myself and do not plan to move to the USA or be in the office area more than once a month for a few days.
Is the process the same as for a US citizen since there are no immigration issues? Are there any special forms licences etc. that I would need to apply for?
You'll need to follow the same steps as a US citizen to legally register a buisness in the US. You'll also need a US citizen who can be a registered agent in the state the buisness is registered in. You will also be required to follow all tax laws in the US and employer laws. I would consult with a buisness attorney to have them properly setup a company for you.
