Capital: 1) Is there other ways to build for startup capital other than
asking friends and family or borrowing from retirement before going to the
banks for help? Is it possible to do fundraisers and or local events that
help raise money for a small business?
Business Structure: 2)If you start out a business as a sole proprietorship
can you eventually change the structure as the business grows to an LLC etc?

To answer your questions: 1. You can only legally do a fundraiser if your
business is a non-profit. If it isn't, you can get into all kinds of
problems.
2. Yes, you can start as a sole proprietorship and later re-register your
business as an LLC or a corporation.
