I can not find a better place to put this question, so I will put it here.
We had a product manufactured by a Chinese company. The product is good overall, but we have detected a flaw. The cost to fix it is not high and we are doing it locally.
We have signed an agreement with the Chinese manufacturer that they should be responsible for such issues. We contacted the manufacturer about this and after asking a few questions, they ceased responding to all communications. I guess even though the costs are not high, they have no interest in living up to their agreement.
Not knowing the Chinese business environment, I am really not sure of my options. I don't think hiring a Chinese attorney is the way to go, because the costs of the attorney would probably be more than the money we would recover.
I wrote to the local Chinese Trade Agency and they did the same thing that the manufacturer did, asked a few questions and ceased responding to all communications.
Is there any trade associations in China that would be interested in helping in something like this? Or should I just write it off as a bad experience?
