Personally, with the plethora of viruses out there, I don't open on-line cards. They are one of the worst sources of viruses. When I receive a holiday card in the mail, I am touched that the business took the time and effort to send one.

In my opinion you should stick with sending quality cards by mail to give a good impression of your business to your customers, and to let them know that you care about your relationship with them. If this has become too expensive for you, then I would recommend cutting costs by sending a reduced number of cards only to your best customers, or not sending them at all, rather than sending an electronic card. To me, electronic cards from businesses are not professional and may send a less than favorable impression of your business. There are some business communications that should not be done electronically, and I think this is one of them.

stick to 'snail mail'. Getting a physical card (or even better, a hand written letter!) in the mail from someone is a really nice surprise. These days all we get in the mail is advertising and bills, so a personal card is a great idea.

Electronic cards feel cheap. And most e-cards you get nowadays are phishing emails. So don't switch. I would even turn your idea upside down. Maybe this is the time to send them something more than a card and get you noticed, while everyone else is thinking of cutting back. If you think about the lifetime value of your customers, or the cost of new acquisition, the cost of sending cards is minimal.

Basically sending an card on mail to client or vendor is good option. But, if you want to cut down your costing you should send them emails instead of mailing them on their physical location. You can send your local vendors and clients card but if your business is worldwide or outside county or region I thibk you choose emails.
