We are a small business that contracts for services with the Federal Government. We have a contract with one of the VA hospitals and we are having trouble getting them to pay their bills. They have not disputed the amounts they owe us. When we call to inquire about when we will get paid they either do not answer the phone or ping pong us around to several people for an answer. They have promised several pay dates and have failed to follow through. Does anyone have any ideas what our recourse is? How can we find out who the next up in the chain of command is when our contact refuses to tell us? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Some of the invoices due us are over 8 months old.

That said your situation sounds like it wouldn't hurt for you to seek out professional advice. Try locating a Procurement Technical Assistance Center in your area for advice. A PTAC is a network of procurement professionals.
