I am doing an internship for a small business. The co. Pres. would like me to develop a policy manual for the business. I'd like some guidance on what should be included, the format of a manual, etc. I would like to know if there are free templates to use for developing a policy manual. I see a lot to purchase but not so many for free that can walk me through writing a policy manual. I saw one on this site for an employee handbook but I need something for a company policy manual. Any help would be great.

the company's policies pertaining to all areas of the business - employee
issues, equipment operation, inventory, etc. Your company owner will need to
work closely with you to be certain the manual accurately reflects the
company. When completed, each employee should be asked to read a copy and
sign it, indicating their understanding of policies. Their signed copy then
becomes part of their employee personnel file. Should any issues occur in the
future, the employee will not be able to say they were unaware of company
policies.

manual. It is not supposed to be a folder that sits gathering dust but an
actual record of the process that the company should be doing.
One suggestion is to do an outline of all the key legal, compliance,
accounting, customer interaction in the firm. Track what the process are.
Discuss it with the owner as to what standards he/she wants to set. This is a
start.
