As much as we want to believe everyone is treated 'equal' in the USA we all know that's far from the truth. Minorities are still given the bad end of the stick; especially with lenders. The statistics speak for itself regarding approved vs. denied loans to businesses and individuals. The SBA should treat everyone equally while providing additional support to minorities in a seperate branch of the program; however until 'everyone' in the USA is able to be treated equal in the eyes of everyone we'll continue to see this kind of behavior.

I still think that it is wrong.  It is discrimination no matter how you look at it.  You back thru history (ie Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, etc) and all they wanted was to be equal - to be the same as everyone else.

The problem is that these groups have been underserved for a long, long time. These specific programs are designed to bring these groups up to a level playing field. It is not that they are making it unlevel against men or other groups - but they are making it level for all. Keep this in mind - it is just as hard for these groups to get grants and loans as it is for you or me - even with these programs in place.
