Cookie Business - Help

I have recently started making cookies out of my home, and selling to friends, etc. I am thinking about expanding and need help on the next step. I contacted my town (in MA) and they do not allow home licensing. If I were to find a local licensed kitchen to work out of (a church, etc), would I also need licensing? What type of license(s) would I need?

How do I register a business name, etc?

Do I need to list ingredients on a label on the cookies?

 

Any help is appreciated.

alyson_a, Congratulations on wanted to start a business. It was a good idea to look into the home based kitchens. We have had a lot of dicsussion about that lately. Home Based Bakery in Southern CA Texas Baking Dog Treats It regards to registering you business name, etc. You should check out the 10 Steps to Starting a Business in MA. If you follow the steps it will make sure yuo do everything properly. The FDA regulates nutrition labeling on food products. However, read the Exemption for Small Businesses to see if your business can file for an exemption. Check out the other dicussions as well as the starting a business page.
