Why cant you pass their dues to a collection agency? Thay way, more or less they have to pay, or have a crappy credit rating, and you will get your money back.

If this compamy is AV*****S you are not alone. They have a long history of using agents and then not paying them. I am sure the owner and manager played the blame game on each other when you spoke to them but it's all a con. You can join the mortgage field services group on yahoo and ask about them for more horror stories as well. Likewise I had money due me for a year as well. I found that they belonged to an Attorneys Association of some type and then sent a certified 10 day notice of my intent to file a grieveance with the asscociation. I was paid shorty thereafter. Sure there are several ways to pursue the debt - colletion agency, law suit, etc. .................but thought I'll ask you a question. Have you tried talking to the owner on a one to one basis, and finding out if they can pay a small portion of the debt in cash, each week, and finish it off over a period of a few weeks. If you already have, please ignore this question. The reason I ask this question is, in my experience with debt collection, there is no substitute for the human-touch. Very often, egos flare, and people feel insulted when they are stiffed with a lawsuit at the word go, for something that could be settled quietly and with some patience. However, if you have done all that, you should press with legal action of some kind.
