Deciding whether to stay home based busines or expand and move into a commercial facility?

I currently own/operate an In Home Daycare. I love the closeness of it and
how I have a relationship with each child and family. I recently recieved
calls for more care but am growing out of my home and we need a bigger space.
I want to care for as many children as possible but do not presently have the
room.

business. I agree with what everyone else has said.
Some things to consider. You need to really research what costs will be
involved with moving out of your home. And, of course, the more children you
care for the more employees you will have to hire to provide adequate
adult-to-child ratio. (And I believe that's probably different in different
localities.) And some parents may prefer the smaller home daycare setting you
have now and would not like their child being in a larger facility. You will
definitely lose that closeness you like now, and you may even fall into more
of a owner role rather than care provider if you enlarge the business, unless
you hired someone to do that for you.
My personal feelings would be if you adore that closeness you have now with
each child and the parents, stay where you are. To me, as a parent and prior
home daycare provider, that's more important that anything else.

be able to serve more kids, make more money (theoretically), and have a
bigger impact. On the other hand, you'll have to hire more people, take on
the responsibility of bigger financial obligations, etc. The answer lies with
what you want from your business. If you're happy with the current situation,
then you probably shouldn't expand. But, if you want to do more and make
more, the risks might be worth the reward. This is always the entrepreneur's
dilemma!
