Hello I reside in Maryland and I want to begin a Bed and Breakfast within the next couple of years. I am in school right now and working on Bachelors Degree in Organizaional Mangagement. This would be a second career for me, shoul I begin in the next couple of years. Can someone point me in direction of a mentor, please. To get me on the right track.

Bed and breakfasts, like other lodging establishments, are licensed and
regulated at both the local and state level. A counselor at a small business
development center or a womens business center can provide you with
information and guide you as you complete your research for your business
plan. This will not be an inexpensive business to start, so you will need
access to funds to obtain the house, install a commercial kitchen and other
considerations.

A good place to start is with one of SBA resource partners: SCORE, Small Business Development Centers or Women’s Business Centers. These organizations provide free business counseling and training. To find your nearest SBA resource partner, enter your zip code in our local assistance guide. Another approach that may be useful is talking to a mentor who could offer you specific guidance.
