My husband was an officer in a recently dissolved small company in Washington State. We are now being held personally liable for unpaid wages from the company. How is this possible?
We appealed a small claims court loss and just lost the appeal. Shouldn't there be a layer of protection for officers of small businesses? If there isn't, why would anyone become an officer of a small company?
You should of disolved the company until the issues of the unpaid wages were taken care of. The small claims suit would of went to the company and not it's owners. This is way you must be 'very' careful with LLC & Corps to get the full liability protection they offer; I hope you resolve your situation.
